The Theory of Evolution
http://www.biology4kids.com/files/studies_evolution.html
What is a theory?
Theory
- uses many observations and has loads of experimental evidence
- can be applied to unrelated facts and new relationships
- flexible enough to be modified if new data/evidence introduced
What is the theory of evolution?
-the idea that populations (groups of species) change over time
What is natural selection?
-the process of organisms adapting (or not adapting) to their environment when it changes
-in order for evolution to occur, the species with a helpful trait (or adaptation) must survive, reproduce, and pass on their traits to the next generation of offspring
